What is included in a transport pass: metro, bus, tram, airport shuttle and local rail

A Conet Pass gives you unlimited rides on the official public transport network of your chosen city for the entire duration you select. Depending on the city, this covers metro, bus, tram, urban rail, vaporetto (in Venice), ferry, and funicular services. In some cities a one-way airport shuttle or public transport connection to the airport is included as standard. In others it is an optional paid add-on. Gondolas, private water taxis, high-speed trains, and private ride-hailing services are never included. Always check the confirmation email you receive with your tickets for the exact list of transport modes included with your specific pass and city.

What transport modes are covered

Every Conet Pass is issued in direct partnership with the local transport authority of the city you choose. The pass is accepted on the same validators used by local commuters and gives you unlimited access for the full duration selected. The exact modes included vary by city but consistently follow the same logic: all vehicles operated by the official municipal transport authority are covered; private or intercity services are not. Conet Pass covers 16 cities across Europe and Asia, from Rome and Venice to Amsterdam, Berlin, Tokyo and beyond.

Metro and underground

Where available, the metro is always included. This covers all lines and all stations within the city zone. In Rome, this means Lines A, B and C. In Berlin, it covers the entire U-Bahn network. In Vienna, all five U-Bahn lines operated by Wiener Linien are included. In Amsterdam, all metro lines run by GVB are covered. There are no zone restrictions within the urban metro network.

Bus

The bus network is fully included in every city. This covers all lines operated by the official municipal operator, including night bus services where they exist. In Rome, this means all 420-plus bus lines including n-lines running from midnight to 5:30 AM. In Venice, all ACTV bus routes connecting the island, Mestre and Marghera are included. The same pass used on the metro is valid on the bus with no additional cost or separate validation required.

Tram

Tram networks are included where they operate as part of the official municipal transport system. In Rome, all six active tram lines are included. In Venice, the T1 tram connecting Mestre to Piazzale Roma is included. In Vienna, the entire Wiener Linien tram network is covered. In Amsterdam, all GVB tram lines are included. In Lisbon, tram routes operated by Carris are part of the pass.

Airport shuttle

Whether the airport shuttle or airport transport connection is included depends on the city and, in some cases, on the specific product you purchase. It is not a universal feature of every Conet Pass. Where a shuttle or airport connection is included, the service is always a dedicated bus shuttle or public transport line — high-speed train links such as the Leonardo Express in Rome are not part of any Conet Pass. Always check the confirmation email you receive with your tickets for the exact list of transport modes included with your specific pass and city.

Included as standard – dedicated shuttle ticket (all day pass durations): Rome (Fiumicino Airport via SIT Bus Shuttle / Alibus), Venice (Marco Polo Airport via ATVO Airport Express), Amsterdam (Schiphol Airport via line 397/N97), Naples (Capodichino Airport via Alibus ANM), Munich (Lufthansa Express Bus). In these cities, a dedicated airport transfer ticket is included automatically in every day pass. For Rome, Venice and Amsterdam, the shuttle ticket is open-date and can be used in either direction between the airport and the city, independently of your transport pass validity period.

Included as standard – airport within the transport zone: Berlin (BER Airport via metro/S-Bahn, zone ABC), Helsinki (HSL zone covers Helsinki Airport), Istanbul (metro zone covers Istanbul Airport), Vienna (S7 S-Bahn to Vienna International Airport), Lisbon (metro to Lisbon Airport), Stockholm (public transport connection to Arlanda and Bromma Airports included in all day passes). In these cities, the standard day pass is valid on the public transport lines connecting the airport to the city, as the airport falls within the covered zone or network.

Available as an optional paid add-on: Milan (Malpensa, Orio al Serio/Bergamo and Linate airports), Barcelona (Aerobus). The standard day pass does not include airport coverage in these cities. If you need airport transfer, you must purchase the relevant combo product at a higher price. In Stockholm, an express Arlanda Shuttle Bus combo is available as a paid upgrade alongside the standard pass, which already includes regular public transport to the airport.

Other cities: for Edinburgh, Tokyo and Osaka, airport coverage depends on the specific pass and product purchased. Check the city page and your booking confirmation to confirm what is included.

Urban and local rail

Several cities include urban rail or city train services within the pass. In Rome, city trains operated by ATAC within the urban zone are included. In Vienna, Wiener Linien connecting lines are covered. In Helsinki, local trains within the HSL zone are included alongside metro, tram, bus and ferry. In Munich, the S-Bahn urban rail network is included alongside the U-Bahn. In Milan, the Passante Ferroviario is included within the Mi1 to Mi3 urban fare zone.

Note that regional Trenitalia trains, Leonardo Express, Frecciarossa and Italo high-speed services are not part of any Conet Pass. If a rail service is not operated by the official municipal transport authority of your city, it is not included.

Vaporetto and ferry

In Venice, the vaporetto (waterbus) operated by ACTV is the main mode of transport and is fully included. All lines are covered, including services to the lagoon islands of Murano and Burano. In Amsterdam, GVB ferry services across the IJ river are included. In Stockholm, selected ferry services are part of the pass. In Helsinki, ferry lines within the HSL network are included. In Lisbon, Transtejo ferry services connecting the city to the south bank are included if you purchase the day pass with ferry option.

Funicular

In Lisbon, the three historic funiculars operated by Carris (Ascensor da Glória, Ascensor do Lavra and Ascensor da Bica) are included in the pass. In Naples, all four funicular lines connecting the city centre to the Vomero hill are included.

Trolleybus

In Rome and Milan, trolleybus lines operated by the respective municipal authorities are included within the pass at no additional cost.

Transport coverage by city

For the airport column: “Yes” means included as standard; “Yes (zone)” means the standard pass covers public transport to the airport; “Add-on” means available as a separate paid product; “—” means not available. What is not included in a transport pass

Understanding what falls outside the pass is as important as knowing what is covered. The following services are excluded from all Conet Pass options, regardless of the city:

• Private taxis and ride-hailing apps. A taxi credit (typically €5 via Wetaxi in Italian cities) is included in most passes as a bonus, but it is a one-off credit, not unlimited transport.
• High-speed trains. Frecciarossa, Italo, Thalys, ICE and equivalent intercity or long-distance rail services are not included.
• Trenitalia regional trains beyond the urban zone. In Rome, trains to Civitavecchia or Ostia Antica via non-ATAC lines are excluded. The Leonardo Express is also excluded.
• Private water taxis (Venice). Motorised water taxis and private boat services are not covered.
  
  Gondolas (Venice). Gondolas are a private tourist service, not a public transport mode.
• Airport trains operated by national rail operators. This includes the Leonardo Express in Rome, the Malpensa Express (Trenord) in Milan, and equivalent services in other cities.
• Airport shuttles in cities where shuttle coverage is not standard. In Milan and Barcelona, the shuttle is a paid add-on. Always check your booking confirmation to verify airport coverage.
• Private shuttle services and premium airport transfers.
• Intercity coach services.

If a service is not explicitly listed under “What’s Included” in your booking confirmation, assume it is not covered. When in doubt, contact Conet Pass support before your trip.

How the pass works on each mode of transport

Conet Pass is a 100% digital pass delivered by email after purchase. The pass is accepted at the same validators used by local commuters on every covered mode of transport. On metro, tram and bus, you validate your ticket at the turnstile or onboard machine as you board. On vaporetto lines in Venice, you tap at the dock validator before boarding. On urban trains, you validate at the platform barrier or onboard machine. In Milan, the pass is activated via the WeTaxi app before boarding surface transport. The pass is valid for the full duration you selected from the moment of activation, with unlimited rides on all covered services.
